Bistro Chair Cushion
This Bistro chair cushion has been specifically designed for outdoor use, and will add an extra special touch of comfort to your Bistro furniture. It features an Outdoor Technical Fabric outer layer, which is resistant to tears and inclement weather conditions (sun, rain, humidity), and a closed-cell foam filling which keeps the cushion watertight. It can easily be cleaned with soap and water. It has clever elastic straps for excellent hold to the seat, in both the folded and open position.
Meet the designers
Fermob
Fermob makes French metal garden furniture in a palette of colours chosen to be seen from the house. The Bistro folding chair descends from a design made for public parks in the 1880s, and it is still the most useful thing on a small terrace: it folds flat, it weighs almost nothing, and it means six more people can sit down at twenty minutes' notice.
Colour is the point of the brand, and the palette is designed to work in combination rather than to match. A table in one shade and chairs in another is the standard move. Alternating chair colours around a single table is the braver one and looks deliberate rather than accidental, because the shades were drawn to sit together.
Underneath that, steel and aluminium with a powder-coated finish built for weather. The aluminium ranges cannot rust at all. The steel is treated, and the only real failure mode is a chip left unrepaired somewhere wet, which is why Fermob supplies touch-up paint in every colour. A minute with that pen in autumn prevents the problem entirely.
Most of it can stay out all year in most climates, and will simply look newer for longer if you store or cover it where the ground freezes and thaws. Darker shades show less dust; the pale neutrals let the planting lead. The questions below cover rust, winter and choosing colours.
