Is Ethnicraft Furniture Solid Wood?

Yes. Ethnicraft works in solid oak and solid teak rather than veneer over board, which is why the pieces can be sanded and refinished decades later and why they are heavy. Some larger case pieces use solid wood over an engineered core for stability, which is a deliberate choice against warping rather than a cost saving.

How Do I Care for the Oak?

Most oak pieces carry a hardwax or oil finish. Wipe spills promptly, avoid standing water, and re-oil once or twice a year depending on use. The advantage of an oiled finish is that marks can be spot-repaired at home with fine abrasive and oil, rather than needing the whole surface refinished.

Will the Teak Change Colour?

Indoors it darkens and deepens over the first year or two, then settles. Outdoors it silvers. Both are the timber behaving normally rather than a fault. Keeping a piece out of direct sun gives the most even result, since sun will lighten some areas faster than others.

Why Do Two Pieces in the Same Finish Look Different?

Because it is solid timber. Grain, figure and colour vary between boards and between trees, and an oiled finish shows that rather than hiding it. Pieces bought years apart will differ more, since wood continues to change colour with light exposure. This is the trade-off for furniture that can be repaired rather than replaced.
