Luxembourg Steel Armchair
The Luxembourg Armchair is one of the foundational pieces for this classic Fermob collection. Named after the famous Luxembourg Gardens in Paris, this collection was born of a collaboration between Fermob’s CEO, Bernard Reybier, and prolific French designer, Frederic Sofia. Reybier commissioned Sofia to reimagine and redesign the classic SENAT chairs that populated the beautiful Luxembourg Gardens, and in turn, Sofia set out to study every inch of the original chairs so he could reinvent a more modern, comfortable chair that invited the gardens’ guests to better enjoy the expansive space.
Developed for Commercial Spaces - The steel version of this chair is much heavier (24lb) than the aluminum version (9lb), making it a great choice for commercial spaces with high wind.

Fermob
Fermob makes French metal garden furniture in a palette of colours chosen to be seen from the house. The Bistro folding chair descends from a design made for public parks in the 1880s, and it is still the most useful thing on a small terrace: it folds flat, it weighs almost nothing, and it means six more people can sit down at twenty minutes' notice.
Colour is the point of the brand, and the palette is designed to work in combination rather than to match. A table in one shade and chairs in another is the standard move. Alternating chair colours around a single table is the braver one and looks deliberate rather than accidental, because the shades were drawn to sit together.
Underneath that, steel and aluminium with a powder-coated finish built for weather. The aluminium ranges cannot rust at all. The steel is treated, and the only real failure mode is a chip left unrepaired somewhere wet, which is why Fermob supplies touch-up paint in every colour. A minute with that pen in autumn prevents the problem entirely.
Most of it can stay out all year in most climates, and will simply look newer for longer if you store or cover it where the ground freezes and thaws. Darker shades show less dust; the pale neutrals let the planting lead. The questions below cover rust, winter and choosing colours.
